COURSE RECORD: is held by Jamie Stone from Minnedosa who shot a 67 during the Glenboro Golf & Country Club 75th Anniversary Tournament in 1997.
The membership went to the Brandon Municipal Course for help in laying out the nine holes. The man in charge of the Brandon Course, golf professional James Pringle, "a good Scottish fellow", according to G.M. (Bay Smith), volunteered his services, went to Glenboro, and with local help, laid out the course. The first clubhouse was built on a knoll in the center of the course, overlooking several fairways. Subsequently, the Patricia School was purchased in 1960 and joined to the original clubhouse, an addition was made in 1973 and finally a new clubhouse was constructed in 1987 overlooking the ninth green. Among the major improvements along the way was the replacement of the original sand greens with grass greens in 1969, with almost all labour provided by volunteers. The official opening of the grass greens took place June 28, 1970. In 1980-81, the fairway watering system was installed at a cost of about $70,000, again with the help of many volunteers. The Glenboro course now boasts of excellent turf on the fairways instead of the orginal sand, spear grass and ground cedar. Of course, the increases in maintenance cost over the years have also been reflected by increases in membership and green fees. In 1951, an annual family membership was $18.00, men’s membership was $8.00 and women’s membership was $5.00. Green fees were 50 cents for nine holes or 75 cents for 18. Information regarding past executive members is sketchy, but we do know from that the Chamber of Commerce conducted the club operations from 1947 until 1956. Minutes show that the 1951 committee in charge of golf was Bill Jamieson, Allan Frederickson, Dr. Bob Helgason, Neils Lambertsen and Charlie Hall. The 1955 committee was Perry Hurton, Roy Wallis, Allen Frederickson and Charlie Hall. In 1956 the Chamber of Commerce moved towards having the golfclub become a separate entity and appointed three members – Roy Wallis, Allan Frederickson and Reg Rawlings, together with a representative from Stockton and Cypress River, to form the first operating executive.
